Siemens and Delta Computer Systems Team Up To Help Ring Container Improve Productivity and Cut Costs

June 23, 2003 - Vancouver, WA. - Delta Computer Systems, Inc. and Siemens Energy and Automation, Inc. announced another plastics application design win demonstrating the continuation of the Siemens/Delta relationship, enabling plastics machinery manufacturers to build better machines.

Ring Container Technologies of Oakland, Tennessee, a leader in technology and innovation in plastic container manufacturing, is using the Siemens WinAC Control System, incorporating Delta's RMC100 motion controller to retrofit multiple blow molding machines. Following the successful startup of a pilot system in Fort Worth, Texas, new control systems will be deployed in machines country-wide.

"Many of our existing machines have plenty of mechanical life left in them, so we focused primarily on control system upgrades to improve productivity and cut costs," said John Holt, Ring Container Automation Engineer. "We wanted to use proven products for these hydraulic system retrofits. Two key factors in choosing the Siemens Plastics Solution were the strong decade-long relationship between Siemens and Delta and the customer support offered by each company."

The Siemens/Delta relationship was formalized January 1, 2000 with an agreement whereby Delta supplies its RMC100 motion controllers to Siemens for use in plastics manufacturing applications built around the Simatic family of programmable controllers.

Delta's RMC100 motion controllers, which offer open fieldbus communication such as PROFIBUS and Ethernet I/P, are well-suited for both OEM and retrofit applications. The RMC100 employs a modular design that handles up to 8 axes of synchronized motion and up to 4 axes of position/pressure control.
