December 18, 2007 — Vancouver, WA — Delta Computer Systems, Inc. has announced the production release of a powerful software enhancement for its RMC70 and RMC150 motion controllers. The new, enhanced sine move command is designed to simplify the use of the company’s programmable motion controllers in repetitive testing applications.
This software enhancement incorporates waveform commands to cause sinusoidal motion (as well as the ability to create motion profiles according to other waveforms) with the ability to change amplitude, frequency and cycle counts easily. Selectable start locations can be defined at multiple points in the waveform and ramping values can also be adjusted for each parameter. When it is time to stop, Stop commands can stop any sine move parameter at various locations smoothly without causing sudden jumps. Adding to this flexibility is an optional feature that enables sinusoidal motion to be incorporated with other motion controller program sequences.
“This waveform generation feature of our RMCTools software delivers capabilities the testing market has been asking for in applications that need to control position, speed, pressure or force," stated Steve Nylund, Delta’s CEO. "Delta’s powerful and intuitive RMCTools software with automated tuning and plotting features makes it easy to develop and maintain non-destructive test (NDT) systems," Nylund added.
Delta’s Family of RMC Motion Controllers has been used for hydraulic, pneumatic and electric closed-loop control in a wide array of single- and multi-axis NDT applications, including medical prosthesis testing, aerospace component testing, and metals and engineered forest products strength testing. Delta’s RMCTools software features flexible User Programs with an extensive command set, including robust mathematical expressions, setup wizards, automated loop tuning wizards and a plot manager for graphic based diagnostics.
