Advanced Motion Control: Built-in strengths from a quadrature encoder interface, analog transducer feedback, increased noise immunity... all working from a major industrial network, Ethernet.

New RMC101-Q1-S1-H1-Enet controller announced by Delta Computer Systems.

Delta Computer Systems today announced its latest member of its RMC Family of motion controllers: the new RMC101-Q1-S1-H1-Enet module.

The new RMC101-Q1-S1-H1-Enet motion controller includes: a quadrature encoder interface, from the Q1 module, to control motors and linear actuators; a 16-bit analog interface, from the H1 module, allowing analog transducer feedback for high-resolution and seamless transfer from position, pressure, or differential force control; control of devices using Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI, from Delta's S1 module) providing compatible feedback, increased noise immunity, and higher resolutions (to 2mm or 0.00008inches); all working from the major industrial network, Ethernet.

Ethernet supports TCP/IP and UDP/IP and all major PLC- and PC-based Ethernet protocols. Current TCP/IP protocols available for the motion controller, allowing communication with PLCs, include Allen- Bradley, Schneider Electric, Siemens, or any soft PLC using these protocols.

"One key to this motion controller is the H1 module, providing 16-bit analog interface, which allows the RMC to connect directly with any analog MDT. Seamless transfer from position to pressure control benefits manufacturers in the casting, forming, and forging operations producing plastics or rubber components in not only increased efficiency, but helps greatly in getting a better handle on the control of production costs," Herb Johanson, Delta applications chief said. Johanson added, "for example, this new RMC101-Q1-S1-H1-Enet motion controller can provide coordinated control of position and pressure, within a two millisecond loop time, fast and in proper sequence, to the shot injector, the mold clamp, and the part ejector in plastic injection molding operations."

"Casting, forming, and forging operations in metals processing industry operations, automobile parts manufacturing, and forest products industries gain these benefits of seamless position to pressure transfer control as well," Johanson claimed. "Automating, converting, or upgrading production line automation projects enjoy the advantage of increased noise immunity and higher precision added by the S1 interface module (SSI Standard)," he said.

Included with each motion control module is Delta's unique monitor software, the RMCWin for Windows. This software speeds set-up and precision tuning with cost savings results. It provides troubleshooting and diagnostic information, calculates scale and direction parameters, allows access to auto-tuning functions, and permits users to change control parameters from a keyboard. A graphic display of the most current motion profile information with a list of the most recent commands executed by the module is provided.
