Delta Computer Systems today announced their newest RMC Family motion controller, the RMC100-S1-DI/O, that combines sophisticated motion control for small and inexpensive Programmable Controllers with the advantages of Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) for transducer feedback.
Applications include precision operations such as tooling and tool handling; injection, rim, and blow molding; casting and forging; pinch rollers, winders, and wrappers; edgers, headrigs, veneer lathes, and flying cutoff saws; cyclic testing; and mechanical animation.
Benefits of the new motion controller include:
Delta's RMC100-S1 motion controller, with DI/O provides three discrete I/O modes:
With Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI), the new Delta motion module supports a wide variety of feedback devices, including magnetostrictive displacement transducers (MDTs), absolute encoders, as well as laser measuring devices. Transducers with SSI interfaces include: Balluff MDTs; Baumer Electric absolute encoders; Heidenhain absolute encoders; MTS Systems Corp Sensors Division's (Temposonics) MDTs; Stegmann, Inc. absolute encoders; and TR Electronic MDTs, absolute encoders, and laser measuring devices.
Other SSI advantages include higher noise immunity, absolute position information, and higher precision. Precision available from MDTs, for example, can reach resolutions to 2mm (micron) or 0.00008 inches
