The LC8 has the following module-wide setting:
Minimum Input Filter Frequency
Typically need not be adjusted. A higher filter frequency may be selected for applications that require a very fast response to rapid force transients.
To access the module-wide settings:
In the Project Pane, expand the Modules folder.
Double-click the desired LC8 module and choose Configuration. The LC8 Properties dialog will open.
Minimum Input Filter Frequency
The Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) on the LC8 module has an internal filter that applies to all channels. This filter’s frequency is tied to the ADC’s conversion time. The RMC will use the lowest frequency filter that will keep the ADC’s conversion time within the RMC’s Loop Time. You can force the controller to use a higher filter frequency by setting the Minimum Input Filter Frequency.
If additional filtering is needed on any axis, use the filtering available in the axis parameters.
For most applications, the Minimum Input Filter Frequency should be set to the default value. The LC8 will then use a filter based on the loop time of the controller:
Loop Time | Input Filter Frequency |
---|---|
4000 µs | 150 Hz |
2000 µs | 150 Hz |
1000 µs | 300 Hz |
500 µs | 600 Hz |
250 µs | 1200 Hz |
125 µs | 2400 Hz |
Choosing a Faster Input Filter
For applications that require a very fast response to rapid force transients, the default input filter frequency may be too low. To achieve very fast response to rapid force transients, two options are possible:
Select a faster loop time in the RMC
The LC8 module will then automatically use a higher input filter frequency.
Set a higher input filter frequency
In the Project Pane, expand the Modules folder.
Double-click the desired LC8 module and choose Configuration.
Choose the desired Minimum Input Filter Frequency.
