Description
This command restarts the EtherCAT network. Typically, this command is issued after the EtherCAT network is faulted. To check if the network is faulted, read the Bus Status register.
For minor network faults caused by a SubDevice restarting or entering Safe-Op, use the faster Restart Cyclic option. For more severe faults that affect acyclic communications, use the Restart Network option.
The Restart Network (0) option completely stops network communications, reloads the network configuration as stored in the RMC(from the ENI file,), then restarts the network and attempts to transition to the Target Master State, which is typically Op Mode. This option take can take multiple seconds . Use this option for severe network faults..
The Restart Cyclic (1) option causes the MainDevice to attempt to transition to Pre-Op mode. If the MainDevice is successful, then it will attempt to proceed to the target master state, which is typically Op mode. Try this option if a SubDevice is restarted or is stuck in Safe-Op. This option is fast, as it does not stop communications entirely or reload the network configuration. This method typically takes less than two seconds.
