Avoiding Problems in
Electrohydraulic Control System Design
|
|
The key
to unlocking the benefits of electrohydraulic
control is understanding system requirements, selecting the proper
system
components, sizing them appropriately, and correctly programming and
tuning the
motion controller for optimal performance.
Building
a precisely-controllable motion system is all about
understanding the concepts of force and natural frequency. For a
typical
hydraulic motion system, the acceleration and velocity are limited by
the
available force, not the flow. In addition, the natural frequency of a
system
determines the maximum acceleration rate that it can achieve under
control.

A Secret Weapon for Roof-Crush
Testing
|
|
The
Center for Advanced Product Evaluation (CAPE), a unit of
advanced vehicular safety systems manufacturer IMMI of Westfield,
Indiana, is
involved with vehicle safety testing.
The center designs and
builds test rigs to evaluate how fire trucks,
ambulances, on-road heavy trucks and school buses survive crash test
scenarios. The test
scenarios are
designed to determine whether there is survivable space inside the
vehicle, and
whether the vehicle’s mounting system to its frame is sufficiently
strong to
withstand a rollover incident. The
tests
that are performed are typically designed to prove that vehicle
manufacturing
processes comply with standards set by organizations such as the
National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA) or the Society of Automotive Engineers
(SAE).

Prologic+ 30 Axis Saw Line
|
|
The
typical sawline is an inline factory with a flow of
material
- raw logs in and finished lumber out. The
smoother
the flow the higher the mill’s productivity. And, when imperfect logs
are being processed, precision saw and chipping head control in
response to optimizing inputs is critical to maximizing the recovery of
valuable lumber. Cutting curved logs along the curve will not only
allow them to dry straight, it will also result in maximizing the
usable length of the boards that are produced. For
the new
curve-sawing line at the ScierieLapointe & Roy softwood mill
in Courcelles, Quebec, optimizing mill output requires the
coordination of more than 30 motion axes. A bank of five
electrohydraulic motion controllers by Delta Computer Systems Inc. of
Battle Ground, Washington does the job.

Delta Releases High Density
Voltage Output Module for RMC200
|
|
Delta Computer Systems, Inc. announces its new high-density
8-channel Voltage Output Module (CV8) for use with the RMC200.
The RMC200 is the latest and most advanced of Delta’s closed-loop
electro-hydraulic motion controllers, capable of directing up to 32
axes. This new add-on module allows for configurations that
handle more axes while consuming less panel space. Alternately, its
high functional integration can free up slots on the backplane for
additional functionality, such as data acquisition.
