Synchronized Position-Force Control for Multiple-Ram Axes
January 24, 2014 — Delta Computer Systems, Inc. announces an enhanced motion control synchronizing feature for press applications. Multi-ram presses have historically employed very heavy guides and platens to prevent the platen from skewing. The electronic position-force synchronization offered by the RMC150 now allows for lighter machines to accurately control total force while keeping the ram positions identical to within a few thousandths of an inch.

Delta's Nachtwey Presented at IFPE Las Vegas 2014
January 31, 2014 — Delta Computer Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce that Peter Nachtwey, Delta's President delivered a technical presentation at the IFPE Technical Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada during March 4-8, 2014. This presentation discussed Servo Motion Control using Custom Feedback presented in the Controls: Analysis, Performance and Systems portion of the conference. Features will include Feedback switching, redundant feedback, feedback linearization and mathematical combinations of various feedback devices. These features within custom feedback are being applied in practical applications when hydraulic applications utilize modern day motion controllers.

Meet Dena Brasher
Dena Brasher is our Purchasing Manager dealing with our vendors, contract manufacturing and oversees kitting for Delta. Dena studied at Clark College, the University of Washington and graduated with a BSEE from the University of Portland. She has been at Delta for more than 25 years.
When she is not getting it done so production can keep humming at Delta, she enjoys many outside interests including gourmet cooking, growing many of her own ingredients on her 5 acre property. |

Electrohydraulics Drives Engine Research
As government regulators demand ever-lower emissions from trucks and mobile equipment, and users demand better mileage, engineers continue to explore the nuances of diesel-engine combustion. One area of intense interest involves injecting fuel into cylinders at extremely high pressure. "Higher injection pressures help with fuel-air mixing, reducing emissions and improving engine efficiency," explains Sam Fairbanks, a technologist at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, Calif. "Our research partners are becoming increasingly interested in higher and higher fuel pressures." (Machine Design - Feb 2014)

Electronic Controls Deliver Precise Pneumatic Motion
When compared to other motion-control methods, there are many reasons to consider powering machines with pneumatics. Unlike electromechanical systems, where the electric power source is typically located right at the actuator, air compressors for pneumatic systems can be located some distance from the cylinder. This means the air cylinder can often be much smaller and lighter compared to a mechanical actuator like a ball screw and its electric motor. (Hydraulics & Pneumatics - Feb 2014)
