Production Challenges
One pillar of Delta’s commitment to excellent customer support is short delivery times—10 working days, or sooner if expedited. To accomplish this, Delta typically carries a high amount of inventory and continuously adjusts production priorities to meet demand. And demand has been strong lately—Delta sales have been running at record levels so far this year.
Finding parts to keep product flowing has become increasingly difficult … which puts a large burden on our Production people. Our Engineers are also tasked with extra work trying to find alternatives for components that are not available. And the costs for many components are up tremendously—often 30% for normal channels and as much as 27x for alternative supply channels.
The component availability challenges have made it impossible to always maintain our 10-day lead times for all products. At times this year, we have had to temporarily extend this to 8 weeks for some products. The good news is that almost all of our products are back on a 2-week delivery. We are working hard to keep up with demand and we hope that we can hold lead times to within a few weeks in spite of the continuing supply chain issues.
I want to thank our customers for their patience with delivery during this difficult supply chain time.

Jacob Paso presented a webinar on the how load cells work, what needs to be considered when deciding between load cell and pressure sensor feedback in a particular project, and what differences you might see when using each type of sensor. The webinar included live force control on Delta's Basic Hydraulics lab system using the new LC8 load cell module in an RMC200 controller.

Tech Tip
Plotting Loop Time Elements
RMCTools includes an estimated Loop Time utilization tool, based on the project's currently defined axes and tasks. But what happens if you need finer detail into what your project will consume, especially with a high axis count controller such as an RMC200?
The Loop Time registers make it simple and easy. They allow the plotting of each element of the loop time, pointing out where time is being consumed and can possibly be saved.
Here’s a list of the elements.
Loop Time Used:
- Total
- Axes
- Programs
- Plots
- Communications (Comm)
The plot pictured is running seven axes and seven user programs on an RMC200; you can see the total loop time used peaks around 100µs.
The Edit Plot Templates window in the Plot Manager gives the user the option to plot a wide variety of elements, so it can be a useful and powerful tool for setting up a complex motion project.
