Delta Updates Hydraulic Training Labs

Delta Computer Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of motion controllers for industrial hydraulic applications, has begun using their new hydraulic motion control training and testing labs.

RMC200 Motion Controller Adds Larger Base Modules and Power Supply Capability

DELTA’s new RMC200 motion controller (up to 32 Axis) now has more Base Modules and Power Supply options delivering more muscle for larger manufacturing processes and testing equipment. Delta Computer Systems Inc. of Battle Ground, Washington announced the RMC200 with a B7 or 7 slot module in September of 2016.  The initial B7 Base Module provided the capability of 12 axes (compared to the 8 axis limit of existing RMC150 motion controllers).   Expanded capability is now production-ready for B11 and B15 Base Modules delivery to accommodate applications from 13 to 32 axes in user defined increments.

Delta's New RMC 200 Motion Controller is ODVA Certified for EtherNet/IP

The new Delta RMC200 motion controller passed EtherNet/IP certification in May 2017 at ODVA headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan, being tested to the most recent CT14 test specification. Delta also participated in the EtherNet/IP 2017 PlugFest to ensure that the RMC200, like Delta's other motion controllers, meets or exceeds ODVA requirements. The RMC200 supports advanced EtherNet/IP features including Device Level Ring (DLR) and CIP Energy and is designed to integrate easily with PLCs, PCs and HMIs. The new RMC200 has two Ethernet ports and supports star, linear and ring topologies.

Motion Controller Smooths Out Bearing Manufacturing

Plant managers and engineers in many industries are finding that productivity can be increased by tightly grouping the machinery that performs successive production steps into integrated workcells. This has been the experience at the Miba Bearings plant in McConnellsville, Ohio. The company recently installed a new bearing press workcell manufactured by Multipress Inc., Columbus, Ohio. The new workcell includes a shearing press, a blanking press, and a two-stage forming press with robotic part transfer for the manufacture of split bearings for crankshafts. Beware the Use of Counterbalance Valves with Electrohydraulic Motion Controllers

By Peter Nachtwey, Delta Computer Systems Inc. Counterbalance valves are used for safety, holding loads and keeping loads from dropping when a loss of hydraulic pressure occurs. Sudden pressure loss can happen when a hose fails, for example, putting a lineman in danger who is high up on the business end of a bucket truck.

Counterbalance valves can also be used to limit the speed at which loads are raised or lowered, preventing the motion of an actuator from getting ahead of the fluid flow from the pump due to momentum created by the load. Counterbalance valves can also mitigate the effects of instability in some hydraulic systems. (Hydraulics & Pneumatics UK, May/June 2017)
